Ingredients:

For the syrup:

  • 1 cup water.
  • 1 cup sugar.
  • Half a lemon.

    For the filling:
  • Phyllo dough (as needed).
  • 1 cup milk.
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter.
  • 2 tablespoons sugar.
  • 2 tablespoons custard powder.
  • A pinch of vanilla.
  • A pinch of baking powder.
  • Pistachios for garnish.

Instructions:

1. In a saucepan, combine water and sugar and stir until boiling. Then add the lemon juice and let it cool.


2. Line a baking dish with parchment paper. Take the phyllo dough and roll each sheet into a rose shape, then place them in the dish.


3. Prick the phyllo dough all over with a knife. In a bowl, mix the milk, sugar, and melted butter.


4. Add the custard powder, vanilla, and baking powder to the mixture, and stir well. Pour this mixture over the phyllo dough and bake in the oven for 15 minutes until golden brown.


5. Once baked, pour the syrup over the top and garnish with pistachios. Enjoy!
